Hello,

Is it possible to obtain a commercial pilot license (or at least train) with
a 3rd class medical ? I am interested in the training provided by a
commercial license and not to fly for hire. One flight instructor told me
it was possible but I can't find info about that. thanks!

What country are you in? I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that in
the you can take whatever training you like without any sort of medical
certification, which only becomes important if you want to be PIC. If
you want to train to commercial standards but don't want to actually get
the rating, then go wild.

Thanks Mike. This is for US. But I would like my license to show
commercial pilot. However, I do not want to have fly for hire privileges. I
would always fly PIC on a private license.

Greetings!

Here's my understanding of it. A 2nd class medical is not required
to obtain a commercial cert. You can, as I understand it, take lessons
etc. to obtain your commercial; and once you have that, you would
need a 2nd class to actually get paid for flying.

Any CFI's out there shed any light on this? 61.123 doesn't
seem to require a medical to get the certificate; only to excercise
the commercial cert.

Regards,
Scott
